Intervention

December 27, 2009 at 8:40 pm (real life) (, )

Agh!  I’ve been watching Intervention all day and I’m pretty sure I would do anything short of homicide for a few bottles of alcohol.

Someone please explain to me why I could quit smoking cold turkey after that terrible trip back from Delaware, but I can’t (and don’t even completely want to) get away from alcohol?

So, you don’t even completely want to get away from alcohol? What, exactly, does that mean? I’m guessing that it means something like: You don’t approve of your own drinking.

I’m no therapist or doctor or whatnot, but I am an alcoholic (retired) and I am pretty damn certain that you’re going to have to come to grips with how you really feel before you can get comfortable either way.

BTW, I don’t know anything about your trip to Delaware, but I do know that I tried buying alcohol in bulk in Delaware before I figured out that the deals in Maryland were even better. No kidding … I used to procure $2000 worth at a time and hump it back to New York to save money. Fit well with my program of keeping so much booze on hand that I didn’t have to hide it; there was too much for my wife to be able to maintain an accurate inventory.
